Sunrise Movement Disrupts Trump’s Rally, Protesting Deportations and War on Iran

The Sunrise Movement, a youth-led climate justice organization, took center stage on Friday as they disrupted Donald Trump's rally in New York state. The group, known for popularizing calls for a Green New Deal, made their presence felt by protesting the president's mass deportation campaign and his war on Iran.

During Trump's speech at Rockland Community College, two activists from the Sunrise Movement stood up to voice their concerns. The first activist, standing on a chair, boldly confronted Trump, accusing him of separating families and attacking immigrants. The activist's powerful words, "Donald Trump, you're separating families! Immigrants are under attack, how do you sleep at night?", resonated with the audience.

As the activist continued, asking about the number of people in ICE camps and shouting "ICE killed-", a police officer intervened and removed the activist from the chair. Trump responded with derision, telling the activist to "Go home to mom" and "Go home."

Minutes later, on the opposite side of the hall, a second activist made their stance known. Holding a sign that read "Trump is a war criminal", the activist shouted, "You should be ashamed of yourself!" Despite loud boos from Trump supporters, the activist continued, accusing Trump of sending money to Iran and Gaza to kill children and engage in genocide.

The disruptions by the Sunrise Movement activists shed light on the group's commitment to social justice and their opposition to Trump's controversial policies. The group's actions sparked a conversation about the president's stance on immigration and his approach to international relations, particularly regarding Iran.
