White House Shooting Suspect Identified: Cole Tomas Allen

In a significant development, law enforcement agencies have identified Cole Tomas Allen as the suspected gunman in the recent shooting at the White House correspondents' dinner. The 31-year-old man, from Torrance, a Los Angeles suburb, has no prior criminal record in Los Angeles County, according to official records.

The suspect's identity has not been officially confirmed by US officials, but a LinkedIn profile bearing the name 'Cole Allen' matches the photo shared by former President Donald Trump. The profile reveals that Allen is an engineer with a passion for game development, and he holds an undergraduate degree from the prestigious California Institute of Technology.

Surveillance footage, released by Trump on the Truth Social platform, shows a man sprinting through a Secret Service checkpoint, drawing the agents' weapons. The suspect was tackled to the ground and apprehended without being hit by gunfire. An officer was struck by a bullet while wearing a bulletproof vest and has since been released from the hospital.

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser confirmed that the suspect is in custody and there is no indication of any other individuals involved. Authorities believe Allen was a guest at the hotel and was involved in an altercation while trying to enter the event. A room in the hotel has been secured for further investigation.

The US attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, stated that the defendant is facing two initial charges and will likely face additional charges. Pirro emphasized that the individual's intent was to cause maximum harm and damage.

Former President Trump has indicated that the suspect's home in California is being searched, but a clear motive for the attack remains unknown. Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche suggested that the suspect was targeting the Trump administration, including the president.

Allen's former high school volleyball teammate described him as a 'borderline genius' and 'super stable'. He was known for his diverse talents, including writing and a broad knowledge base. Allen's former student also characterized him as a 'normal' and 'ordinary' person, making the shooting incident even more surprising.

The suspect's LinkedIn profile reveals a degree in mechanical engineering from Caltech and a master's in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He has worked as a mechanical engineer, an independent game developer, and a part-time teacher, showcasing a multifaceted background.
