US Embassy’s AI Video Sparks Outrage in Mexico

A recent AI-generated video from the US embassy in Mexico has sparked outrage and disbelief among netizens, prompting calls for a change in the law.

The video, which was posted on the embassy's official social media accounts, depicts a group of men performing a traditional Mexican ballad known as a corrido. The AI performer sings phrases including 'return to your roots,' with the message 'Mexican power lies within you.'

However, the video was met with condemnation on social media, with many users calling it 'pathetic' and 'supremacist.'

This is not the first time a video from US authorities aimed at migrants has caused controversy. Last year, the then US secretary of homeland security launched a number of video ads urging migrants to self-deport or stay at home.

The Mexican president has since said she will ask the Mexican Congress to pass a law banning such ads from appearing in the country.
