Ukraine’s President Vows Retaliation Against Russia’s Oil Industry and Military Production

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has declared that Ukraine will retaliate against Russia's oil industry and military production, following the recent Russian attacks on Kyiv, which claimed the lives of at least 24 people, including three children.

Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine will not let any strikes by the aggressor go unpunished and is justified in its response. He also warned about Russia's plans for new missile and drone strikes, including targeting decision-making centers.

The Ukrainian president expressed concern over Russia's attempts to involve Belarus in the war, suggesting a potential attack on Ukraine or a NATO country. He called for Russia to end the war and negotiate a dignified peace.

Meanwhile, the US army has confirmed the cancellation of the planned deployment of 4,000 troops to Poland, as part of a broader force posture reorganization in Europe. Senior US officials stated that these changes are part of a broader realignment and assured continued commitment to European allies.

Polish officials, however, received assurances that the security guarantees for Poland would not be substantially affected. Poland's defense minister, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, linked the decision to US troop withdrawal from Germany and suggested that Poland could gain a permanent US presence.

The US undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, Thomas G. DiNanno, emphasized the US commitment to the region while hinting at changes in the force posture. He acknowledged that some conversations with European partners were challenging but necessary for true partnership.

As the situation in Ukraine remains tense, the international community is closely monitoring the developments and the potential impact on European security.
