Toy Story 5: Young Artist’s Dream Comes True
A Star is Born
Eight-year-old Tommy from Blackpool is the talk of the town after his artwork was chosen to be displayed before every UK screening of Toy Story 5. The young artist’s design will be featured on the official British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) Black Card, a prestigious honor for any artist, let alone one so young.
A Dream Come True
Tommy’s winning design features the feet of some of the beloved characters from the film, including the new character Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee. His unique approach to the artwork, using acrylic paint and a mix of brushes and sponges, caught the eye of the judges.
“I just wanted to make something colourful, plus feet are easier to draw than faces!” Tommy said, sharing his creative process.
A Red Carpet Experience
The young artist’s journey to stardom began when he walked the red carpet at a preview screening in London. He was congratulated by none other than Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, who voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear in the film. Hanks and Allen signed Tommy’s framed copy of his winning design, leaving him starstruck.
“I was really shocked to win. I felt happy, excited, amazed — so many emotions all at once!” Tommy said, reflecting on his incredible experience.
The competition, which attracted over 1,000 entries, was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Tommy and his family. They were invited to a winner’s day experience in London, where Tommy got a behind-the-scenes tour of the BBFC and learned about film classification.
This story is a testament to the power of creativity and the impact it can have on young lives. Tommy’s artwork will be seen by millions of moviegoers, inspiring others to pursue their artistic dreams.
