SWA Awards 2026: Celebrating Screenwriting Excellence

The prestigious Screenwriters Association (SWA) Awards, a premier recognition for the creative minds behind the screen, has announced its 2026 nominations, celebrating the most exceptional storytelling across films, series, and television. The awards ceremony, scheduled for May 23, will be a grand affair, recognizing the groundbreaking works of 2025.

This year's nominations feature a stellar lineup of industry heavyweights and rising stars. In the Web Comedy/Musical/Romance category, Aryan Khan's debut, 'The Ba***ds of Bollywood', shines with three nominations, including Best Story, Best Screenplay, and Best Dialogue. The Web Drama category sees a fierce competition with Satyanshu Singh, Arkesh Ajay, Sudip Sharma, and Smita Singh vying for top honors.

Smita Singh stands out as the most-nominated individual, with four nods for her work on the series 'Khauf' and the feature film 'Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders'. The Feature Film category also highlights diverse talent, with Rahul Badwelkar, Shazia Iqbal, Ankur Singla, and Tisca Chopra among the Best Debut nominees.

Anurag Basu's 'Metro… In Dino' and 'Stolen' lead the Feature Film tally, with Basu nominated in all major categories. Aditya Dhar and Varun Grover further solidify their industry presence with nominations for their respective works. The Lyrics category pays homage to legends like Javed Akhtar and Gulzar, alongside last year's winner, Irshad Kamil.

The Television wing sees 'Ittsi Si Khushi', 'Megha Barsenge', and 'Pushpa Impossible' dominating the nominations. 'Wagle Ki Duniya-Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey' also stands out with significant nods. The esteemed juries, comprising renowned screenwriters, directors, and critics, ensure a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the submissions.
