Romeo Beckham’s £440 Fine for Phone Use While Driving

Beckham’s Porsche Stopped at Red Light

Romeo Beckham, the 23-year-old son of Sir David and Victoria Beckham, was fined £440 and given three penalty points after being caught using his phone while driving in Westminster last September.

The incident occurred on September 12, 2022, when Metropolitan Police PC Luke Short spotted Beckham’s Porsche 911 Carrera at a red light in Victoria Street, Westminster, just before 11:20 BST.

PC Short’s statement reveals that he noticed an unrestrained dog on the female passenger’s lap as he passed the car. He then saw Beckham, who was also distracted, looking down at his mobile phone, which he was holding low in his lap near the steering wheel.

Beckham’s Conviction and Fine

Beckham was convicted at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last Thursday for not being in a position to have proper control of his vehicle.

In addition to the fine and penalty points, he was ordered to pay £130 in costs and a £176 victim surcharge.

The model was offered the opportunity to pay a fine and attend a driver awareness course to avoid criminal proceedings, but he did not respond.

A Familiar Scenario for the Beckham Family

This incident comes almost seven years after Beckham’s father, Sir David, was banned from driving for six months for a similar offense.

In 2019, Sir David pleaded with the court, stating that a driving ban would impact his ability to drive his children, including Romeo, to school.

The Beckham family has not publicly commented on Romeo’s recent conviction.

While the incident is a reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving, it also highlights the challenges of staying focused while driving, especially with distractions like mobile phones and pets in the car.
