Mick Jagger’s Party Interrupted: Music Ban on Stromboli Island
In a surprising turn of events, music legend Mick Jagger, 82, had his party interrupted by police on the Italian island of Stromboli. The iconic singer was celebrating the completion of his latest film, *Three Incestuous Sisters*, alongside fellow cast members, including Josh O'Connor, Jessie Buckley, and Saoirse Ronan.
The party, held on Wednesday night, was abruptly stopped by local police due to a unique ordinance: a ban on music on Wednesdays. This unexpected interruption caused a stir among the attendees, who were enjoying the festivities at a local venue.
According to Italian media reports, the music was being played at a reasonable volume from a small speaker. The partygoers, initially confused and amused by the situation, complied with the police request, albeit reluctantly.
The incident gained attention when a local bookseller shared it on social media. La Repubblica reported that the party was cut short before midnight after residents of Stromboli complained about the music to the police.
The film's crew and cast, including Jagger and O'Connor's father, departed the island the following day, with Jagger leaving in a private helicopter.
The mayor of Lipari, Riccardo Gullo, who administers Stromboli and several other Aeolian islands, was unavailable for immediate comment. However, the incident sparked a discussion about the island's regulations and the need for better administrative management.
Rosa Oliva, president of Pro Loco Amo Stromboli, a local tourism promotion group, expressed disappointment, stating that the island should be valued and supported, especially after a challenging winter. She emphasized the importance of welcoming guests and promoting tourism, which is vital to the island's economy.
*Three Incestuous Sisters*, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Alice Rohrwacher, is an adaptation of Audrey Niffenegger's bestselling novel. The film's production transformed Stromboli into an open-air set, attracting international attention.
