Michigan Man Released After Wife’s Disappearance at Sea
In a mysterious turn of events, Brian Hooker, a resident of Onsted, Michigan, has been released by Bahamian police after being questioned regarding his wife's disappearance. Lynette Hooker, 55, was reported missing by her husband after he claimed she fell overboard during a boat trip in the Bahamas.
The incident occurred on April 4th, as the couple was sailing from Hope Town to Elbow Cay. Brian Hooker stated that his wife had the boat's keys, which caused the engine to shut off, leaving him to paddle to shore. He reported that strong currents carried Lynette away, and he lost sight of her.
Brian Hooker's attorney, Terrel Butler, confirmed that his client denies any wrongdoing. In an emotional interview with CBS News, Hooker expressed his belief that his wife is still alive and vowed to continue searching for her. He stated, 'I won't be able to stop looking until someone with more authority tells me to.'
The couple has been married for over two decades and documented their sailing adventures on social media. They recently purchased a sailboat named 'Soul Mate' and embarked on a journey through the Gulf of Mexico. Their home in Onsted is located southwest of Detroit.
However, Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, raised doubts about the incident, stating that her mother was an experienced sailor and it was unlikely for her to 'just fall' off the boat. The couple's history includes a 2015 incident where they accused each other of assault, according to a police report.
The US Coast Guard has launched a separate investigation into the disappearance, while Bahamian authorities continue their inquiries. Despite the circumstances, Brian Hooker remains determined to find his wife, demonstrating unwavering dedication to their marriage.
