Miami Boat Explosion Leaves 11 Injured, Probe Underway

According to Juan Arias, the Miami Dade fire rescue battalion chief, the incident occurred around 12.45pm when first responders received reports of a possible boat explosion on the water.

It is unclear what caused the blast, which occurred onboard a charter boat with about 14 people. The Miami Herald reported that Patrick Lee, a local businessman, was driving people onboard his boat to another vessel on the water during the blast. When they looked back, they saw three people flying off the boat in a puff of smoke.

The Florida fish and wildlife conservation commission is investigating the incident. According to the Associated Press, the commission is working to determine the cause of the explosion. The Haulover Sandbar, the location of the incident, is a popular spot for boating and kayaking, attracting hundreds of visitors every year.
