Met Police Pursue Justice in Al Fayed Sexual Abuse Scandal

In a significant development, the Metropolitan Police have interviewed three women in connection with the shocking allegations of sexual abuse by the late Mohamed Al Fayed, the former owner of Harrods.

The women, aged in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, are suspected of aiding and abetting the sexual offenses committed by Al Fayed over four decades. This scandal is considered one of Britain's worst, with up to 154 potential victims of rape, sexual assault, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation.

The Met's statement reveals the suspects were questioned under caution in the last two weeks. The allegations against them include human trafficking, with some of the trafficked women allegedly becoming victims of Al Fayed's attacks.

Commander Angela Craggs emphasized the victim-centric approach, stating, 'Victims remain at the heart of this investigation.' Despite Al Fayed's death in 2023, the Met remains committed to holding all those involved accountable.

The investigation has been extensive, with police examining over 50,000 pages of evidence, including victim statements, and retrieving crucial material from previous reports. This has led to the identification of several more suspects who may have facilitated Al Fayed's crimes.

The Met encourages anyone with information to come forward, ensuring a comprehensive inquiry. A compensation scheme for victims has also been established by Harrods, demonstrating a commitment to supporting those affected.

This case highlights the importance of addressing historical sexual abuse and the power of holding perpetrators accountable, even posthumously.
