David Dhawan’s Journey: From Judwaa to Family Ties

The David Dhawan Film Festival, a celebration of the iconic director's work, recently featured a heartwarming conversation between David Dhawan and his son, Varun Dhawan. This father-son duo, known for their comedic films, is gearing up for their upcoming release, 'Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai', a hilarious adventure set to hit the big screens on June 5.

During the event, Varun shared a lighthearted anecdote about his father's transformation after working with Salman Khan. He recalled, "When you work with Salman Khan, you can't help but be influenced. My father started walking bare-bodied, exuding a new level of confidence. It was as if he believed he was Salman Khan himself!" The audience couldn't contain their laughter at this revelation.

David Dhawan, with a smile, acknowledged Salman's impact, saying, "He's an incredible person to work with." Varun further elaborated on Salman's charisma, stating, "He has this unique swag that makes everyone feel young and loved. Even my mother noticed it." This testimony to Salman's charm and positive influence on those around him is a testament to his star power.

David Dhawan then reminisced about his first collaboration with Salman in the 1997 hit, 'Judwaa'. He admitted to initially misjudging Salman's interest, saying, "I thought he was disinterested, but I was wrong." It was producer Sajid Nadiadwala who understood Salman's unique working style. Over time, David and Salman developed a strong bond, working together on numerous films. Their relationship evolved into a family-like connection, with David spending evenings socializing with Salman and even helping him prepare for shoots.

David fondly recalled, "I made two films for Salman's brother, Sohail Khan – 'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya' and 'Partner'." This journey from co-workers to family showcases the power of collaboration and the deep connections that can form in the film industry.
