Greece and Turkey are currently experiencing an unexpected cold snap, with temperatures dropping significantly below average for this time of year. This weather anomaly is caused by an area of low pressure over Turkey, drawing in cold air from the north-east via the Black Sea.

Greece is also grappling with the cold, as temperatures in Athens struggle to reach the low teens Celsius. This is a stark contrast to the usual mid-20s expected in early May. Additionally, gale-force winds have been battering the islands in the South Aegean, reaching speeds of around 60 mph.
