Canada’s Mark Carney Stands by Removal of Prince Andrew from Royal Line

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has reiterated his stance on the removal of Prince Andrew from the royal line of succession. Speaking in Tokyo, Carney emphasized that the actions of Prince Andrew, which he described as 'deplorable', necessitate his removal from the line of succession. The Canadian Prime Minister's comments come after Prince Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Prince Andrew is eighth in line to the throne, despite relinquishing his royal titles in October. However, he remains a counsellor of state, a position that could be used to fill in for King Charles III if he were unable to perform his duties. Carney stressed that even though Prince Andrew is 'well down' the line of succession, the 'point of principle stands'.

The process for removing someone from the line of succession involves an act of the UK parliament and the support of the 14 commonwealth countries where Charles is head of state. The Australian and New Zealand governments have already expressed their support for any proposal to remove Prince Andrew from the line of succession.

In light of recent events, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney believes that the law must take its course and that there must be a full, fair, and proper investigation into the allegations against Prince Andrew.
