Undercover investigators from trading standards posed as wannabe lorry drivers and booked appointments with Doctors on Wheels in three different locations. What they discovered was a far cry from the professional medical examinations required for HGV licences.

The company’s director, Andrew Eburne, was convicted of fraud and sentenced to four years in prison. Judge Huw Rees emphasized the severity of the crime, stating that Eburne had put profit before safety and compromised public safety.
