Billie Eilish Prepares for Big Screen Acting Debut

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Billie Eilish is set to make her big screen acting debut in an adaptation of Sylvia Plath’s semi-autobiographical novel The Bell Jar.

According to Deadline, the 24-year-old will take on the lead role for Oscar-winning writer-director Sarah Polley, who previously won an Oscar for her Women Talking screenplay.

Eilish is reportedly in advanced talks for the part, marking a significant step in her career as a performer and artist. In her Saturday Night Live monologue, Eilish expressed her love for acting, citing her family's background in the industry as a major influence.

The film, set to be released by Focus Features in the US, is an adaptation of Plath’s sole novel, The Bell Jar, which tells the story of a young female writer dealing with mental illness in the 1950s.

It was adapted into a film in 1979, but received negative reviews, and subsequent attempts to remake it have failed. However, with Polley at the helm and Eilish in the lead role, the project is gaining momentum.

Eilish recently became the first artist to win the Grammy for song of the year three times, and has won the best original song Oscar twice for the No Time to Die and Barbie soundtracks.

The theatrical release of Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft, a 3D concert documentary from James Cameron, is also set to take place this year.
