Love Island USA: Alannah Keyser Removed for Racial Slur
Alannah Keyser’s Exit
Love Island USA has removed its second contestant, Alannah Keyser, after historical social media posts emerged, seemingly showing her using a racial slur.
Keyser, who made her debut on Sunday’s episode, was removed after a video surfaced of her lip-syncing to the n-word in a song, while other screenshots showed her using the same slur in an Instagram comment and a Snap message.
The Peacock Vetting Process
The posts were from a private account and were not made public until after Keyser entered the villa, sources told US publications, including Variety.
This means they were not flagged during broadcaster Peacock’s vetting process, which aims to ensure contestants’ social media histories are free from offensive content.
Keyser has been approached for comment.
Casa Amor Twist
Keyser joined the show as a ‘bombshell’ during the Casa Amor twist, a mid-season tradition where new islanders enter to test existing relationships.
Before her departure, she appeared in the first 20 minutes of Thursday’s episode, engaging with a male contestant. She then featured briefly in two non-speaking scenes.
The show’s narrator confirmed her exit, stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”
A Season of Sensitivity
This season has seen a heightened focus on addressing racist language. Vasana Montgomery was removed before the season began after videos circulated online, showing her using the n-word.
Montgomery later apologized in an Instagram statement, taking full responsibility for her words and expressing her embarrassment and disappointment.
Last year’s seventh series also saw two contestants, Yulissa Escobar and Cierra Ortega, removed for using racial slurs. Both issued apologies, with Ortega stating she was unaware of the offensive nature of her words.
Love Island USA is setting an example by taking swift action against contestants who use offensive language, ensuring a more inclusive and respectful environment for all.
