London Teacher Guilty of Indecent Assaults on Pupils

Sally-Anne Bowen Found Guilty

A jury at Harrow Crown Court has found Sally-Anne Bowen, a former chemistry teacher at Christ’s College in Finchley, guilty of indecent assault charges. The 65-year-old was accused of assaulting two teenage boys in the late 1980s when they were around 14 to 15 years old.

The Jury’s Verdict

After a trial, the jury took six hours and 29 minutes to reach their verdict, finding Bowen guilty of seven counts of indecent assault.

Complainants’ Testimonies

One of the complainants, who cannot be named, testified that he had a sexual relationship with Bowen, visiting her at home and considering her his girlfriend. He claimed they had sex “about 20 or 30 times” during this period.

A second complainant described an incident where he kissed Bowen in a café, influenced by peer pressure from other boys.

The court also heard from former pupils who recalled Bowen’s unconventional behavior in the classroom, including discussing sexual topics and flashing her underwear.

Defence and Sentence

Bowen denied the allegations, claiming they were fabricated and that a medical condition made sexual intercourse difficult for her. Despite this, the jury found her guilty.

She has been granted bail and will be sentenced on November 20th.
