London’s Counter-Terrorism Police Investigate Arson Attack

In a concerning development, counter-terrorism officers are leading an investigation into an arson attack on a business in Hendon, north-west London. The Metropolitan Police stated that while the incident is not currently connected to recent arson attacks on a synagogue and a Jewish ambulance charity, similarities between the cases have prompted their involvement.

The latest attack targeted a premises associated with Jewish Futures, an educational charity. The incident occurred on Friday night, with officers and the London Fire Brigade responding promptly. Fortunately, the attack resulted in minor damage to a shopfront and no reported injuries.

An Islamist group with ties to Iran has claimed responsibility for the attack on Jewish Futures via the Telegram messaging platform. This group, known as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, previously took credit for attacks on volunteer ambulances in Golders Green and a synagogue in Finchley.

Commander Helen Flanagan of Counter Terrorism Policing London emphasized the importance of community cooperation in the investigation. She urged anyone with information or footage to contact the police, assuring the public of their relentless pursuit of justice.

Local police leadership, including DCS Luke Williams, has been actively engaging with community leaders to address concerns and provide reassurance. Increased police patrols, including armed officers and Project Servator deployments, aim to enhance security and deter potential offenders.

The Community Security Trust (CST), a charity dedicated to protecting Britain's Jewish community, is closely collaborating with law enforcement. They encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in safeguarding against such hateful acts.
