US-Iran Conflict Escalates: Trump’s Ultimatum to Iran

President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, threatening to 'obliterate' its power plants if Tehran does not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. The US has been at odds with Iran over the strait, which is a vital shipping route, and the situation has escalated further with Iranian ballistic missile barrages wounding over 100 people in southern Israel.

The Israeli Air Force is investigating its failure to prevent the attacks, which struck the cities of Arad and Dimona. The International Atomic Energy Agency has confirmed that there is no indication of damage to the Negev nuclear research centre, which is near to Dimona.

In a significant development, Iran has launched two ballistic missiles with a range of 4,000 km at the US-British military base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. The British foreign secretary has condemned the attacks, while stressing the UK's position on the conflict.

The death toll has risen to over 1,500 people in Iran, more than 1,000 people in Lebanon, 15 in Israel, and 13 US military members, with millions of people displaced in Lebanon and Iran.

The international community is calling for a swift resolution to the war, with Saudi Arabia's ministry of defence detecting three missiles launched towards Riyadh and one being intercepted.

In response to Trump's ultimatum, Iran's military has threatened to target all US 'energy, information technology, and desalination infrastructure' if its own facilities are attacked.

The situation remains volatile, with the US, Israel, and Iran engaged in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. The world waits with bated breath for a resolution to this crisis.
